$0.00Price

They were abandoned. Tossed out and left without love before the man they would later call father scooped them up and changed their lives forever. While still in their adolescent years, father molded them into killing machines, mercenaries for hire sent all over the world to do the dirty work of those in power. Over a decade after the great fire destroyed their training grounds in the Aconcagua mountains, the scramble is on to find the hundreds of well-trained assassins, scattered all over the globe now trying to fit into a society that had abandoned them as orphans. The only problem is father isn't the only one looking for them, and those who are caught in the chase are slowly starting to realize that it goes a lot deeper than just mercenary missions. The world's political structure lies in the balance.

  • Starts with a Bang

This book starts off with a bang and grips you throughout the entire story.

The story is very action-packed with the battle of the good guys vs the bad guys. It was fascinating to read about the history with Master Haing and Dr. McClain, and how the students were caught in their battle. There's lots of characters in the story and each one of them plays important role. Garrett, Eva, and Vance were just a few of the main characters with a pivotal part.

The length of the book is great, as an action/suspense story it moved at a steady pace without dragging on or moving too quickly.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. It felt like I was in the middle of a movie as I was reading it.

  • An Intriguing Story

Shadow Vanadium Assassins Book 1: Genesis by Kevon Brown is an intriguing read. The story has it all: action, martial arts, a mad scientist, government corruption, evil plots to rule the world, a love story, plot twists, and much more.

The book is centered around a group of shadow assassins that began their training when they were young, abandoned children. A mad, evil scientist altered the chemistry of their bodies to make them stronger, faster, smarter, and almost impossible to kill. The mad scientist's former partner, a seemingly benevolent man, who loves the children and appears (notice I said appears) to have pure intentions is trying to stop the mad scientist's plan with the few assassins that remain loyal to him. It is an intriguing story line that involves several characters. I have already grown attached to a few of the characters, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

The only reason I didn't give this book four stars is because there are a few inconsistencies and/or mistakes in the story line that bother me. However, they do not detract from the overall story. It is definitely worth reading.

I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review, but I would pay 99 cents to read this book. The characters intrigue me that much!

  • An Engaging Read

Shadow Vanadium Assassins is the first instalment of an action intrigue series which I believe will HD many spellbound for a long time. This book is about organised crime, featuring selfish politicians and mentors using professionally trained assassins to their advantage.

From the very first chapter to the last, there is pure action. Unlike most authors in this genre who take too long to build their stories, and perhaps the action that follows, Kevon Brown creatively gets the action started as soon as the book starts yet not giving the book away.

Watch out for his dexterity in unveiling his characters, Garrett, Vance, Nola, Dr McCain, Senator Douglas etc. Although this book is on interesting read, what intrigued me most about it is twofold: the author's ability to tell many stories at the same time without confusing the reader, and, if course, the ending. The end of this story simply begins another story is evident by Garrett's message to Vance.

I look forward to the second instalment. Great job Kevon.

  • Not My Cup of Tea

This novel mixes a lot of elements seamlessly. It's somewhat of a plot-crossover with hints of the Batman saga, Wolverine, Romeo and Juliet, and Jason Bourne all wrapped into an interesting piece of literature. I admired Brown's ability to crossover these recognizable plots while adding his own twist to it. While the characters were distinct in their own subplots, I didn't find them particularly appealing to me personally. They didn't have any qualities and struggles that I could sympathize with and any development they had was mostly told rather than shown.

While this type of genre is not my typical cup of tea, I did appreciate Brown's take on familiar works.

  • I love the way that he develops his characters

I am a huge fan of this author and when I saw that he put this book out, I was very excited! I love the way that he develops his characters. I can truly see how they look in my head. It makes it a pleasure to read this book. The way that the plot is mapped out is not only easy to follow, but he does a great job painting the picture of the locations where the characters are. Let's get into the fights and action! There are some epic fight scenes in this book and there are a lot of twists and turns. In my head, it plays out like a perfect whodunit. Great book!! I would suggest it to anyone who loves action and suspense!
